ALBATROSS is the story of Emelia Conan-Doyle (Jessica Brown Findlay, DOWNTOWN ABBEY), a cheeky force of nature and the seventeen-year-old heir to the legacy of Arthur Conan Doyle. Harboring an ambition to follow in the literary footsteps of her grandfather, Emelia writes while working at a stuffy seaside hotel populated by another blocked novelist Jonathan, his put-upon wife, and their daughter Beth (Felicity Jones, LIKE CRAZY). Instigating a whirlwind of change, Emelia first befriends and emancipates the bookish daughter and alarms her career frustrated mother, before bewitching Jonathan himself.

“CRAZY HORSE is a study of artistic process that is itself a work of art, and, as such, a reminder of what a documentary can be.” -A.O. Scott, New York Times
“[Frederick Wiseman is] arguably the most brilliant, brave, and innovative documentary filmmaker working today.” -Los Angeles Times
Acclaimed documentary filmmaker Frederick Wiseman follows up his surprise hit film LE DANSE– The Paris Opera Ballet -by pulling back the curtain on Paris’s Crazy Horse cabaret, the most famous nude dance show in the world. The legendary Parisian cabaret club, founded in 1951 by Alain Bernadin, combines burlesque, choreography, and spectacle in a way that is designed not only for the enjoyment of men, but also couples. Over the years it has become a Parisian nightlife “must” for visitors, ranking alongside the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre. Wiseman’s impeccable eye finds the Crazy Horse a uniquely French showcase, with an exacting emphasis on elegance, perfectionism, and a grueling schedule (open 7 days a week, with 2 shows a night and 3 on Saturdays). The film shows us the rehearsals for and the unveiling of the brand new show– Désir –created by the renowned French choreographer Philippe Decouffle.
